POSTCARDS OF SUPPORT

EVERYONE DESERVES SUPPORT

We invite you to help us deliver messages of support to the LGBTQ+ community. It can be a very scary time right now and many people are living in fear and in isolation. No matter if they are out or not, everyone deserves to know that they are cared for and that they are part of a larger community.

From messages of encouragement and congratulations for coming out to a simple note that it’s ok to be yourself, words matter.

In your journey were there words of support when coming out that stuck with you
Are there words you wished you had heard on your journey of self-discovery?
What would you have loved to have been told that would have lifted your spirits?

Together we can be there for each other.

We are partnering with LGBTQ+ youth programs around the country to sand in solidarity with each other. Together we’re strong and together we can uplift each other during the dark times. We are sending out postcards to be filled out with messages or images of support, care and encouragement from young LGBTQ+ people to offer love and affirmation everyone in the LGBTQ+ community deserves.

Through our hotlines and online programs we offer vital peer support, but many people are not ready or able to have those conversations. Your messages will be seen throughout our websites, socials, and media as a way for those seeking support know that they are part of a community and there are messages directly for them.

A small gesture can have a huge impact

Studies have shown how that what can make a significant difference in a person’s wellbeing is knowing they are connected to a community and they have support.  It can lessen the likelihood of ending up in a crisis situation when a person has the knowledge that even if they don’t have immediate support in their every day lives, they still have the right to think about their own well being and seek out support on their terms.

If you are a QSA/GSA advisor or facilitate LGBTQ+ youth space and would like to participate, please reach out and we can send postcards to be filled out.  Messages should be anonymous and messages of positivity.  Messages will be collected and used on our websites and socials so people can see that messages of care and hope were sent specifically for them to know they're connected.

instructions

It can be very isolating if you don’t have anyone offering you words of support on your journey to be your authentic self.  What encouraging words would you want to spread if you had the chance?  What would have been meaning for you to have heard?

Please keep the message anonymous, with no identifying information on you or others.

Because these messages of support are being seen by young people, please keep them PG and no vulgar words or slurs.

If approved, messages here and through our Postcards of Support program will be posted through out our websites for those who need to read them along with our social media sites.  Your words will travel and be seen by community members who will know they're not alone.
